Seal
Sealing, friction reduction, removal of foreign substances
A seal is a mechanical element that generally exists between two objects or components and serves as a device or material to seal them. The main purposes of a seal are as follows: ● Sealing: Seals prevent the leakage of gases or liquids by ensuring that there are no gaps between objects or components. For example, seals are used between shafts and housings, or at the joints of pipes and tanks. ● Friction reduction: Seals also play a role in extending the lifespan of mechanical parts by reducing friction at contact surfaces. For instance, oil seals may be used between shafts and bearings. ● Isolation of different environments: Seals may be used to isolate different environments (for example, external and internal). This helps prevent the influence of foreign substances from the outside and protects internal materials or liquids. Seals come in various types depending on their shape and material. They are manufactured from various materials (such as rubber, metal, plastic, etc.) according to requirements for durability, heat resistance, and chemical resistance.
