**What are radicals?**
When viewed at the molecular level, the paint film has paired electrons in twos. When strong energy such as ultraviolet light or heat is applied, cracks in the chemical bonds occur, generating radicals that have only one electron. Radicals are extremely unstable and highly reactive molecular species that, once generated, react in a chain reaction, leading to the deterioration of the paint film. Incidentally, the cause of the ozone hole is due to chlorine atom radicals.
