[Technical Column] Issue 11: A Discussion on Water Drainage in Evaporators

Utilizing the hydrophilicity of water! Introducing the water drainage issues and solutions in evaporators.

In this column, we will discuss the water drainage issues in car air conditioning evaporators and their solutions. The evaporator draws in warm, humid air and cools and dehumidifies it using the latent heat of refrigerant evaporation, which naturally leads to the generation of condensate. When the air conditioning is turned off, not all of the water is drained; some remains in the evaporator, with an approximate volume of 500cc. When the air conditioning is turned back on and airflow begins, this water is suddenly expelled, causing a phenomenon known as water spitting from the air conditioning vents. Numerous studies have been conducted to solve such problems, and it has now become mainstream to utilize the hydrophilicity of water to reduce the amount of retained water. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. [Technical Column] Issue 3: Lessons from History - The Story of the "Evaporator"

Looking back at that time, we will introduce the development of compact/lightweight technology and three types of evaporator structures!

In this column, we will introduce the development of compact and lightweight technology. We will briefly explain the three representative "types of evaporator structures" from 40 years ago (the 1980s): "fin & tube type," "serpentine type," and "plate stacked type." Please take a moment to read it. *For detailed content of the column, you can view it through the related links. For more information, please feel free to contact us.
