[Technical Column] Issue 11: A Discussion on Water Drainage in Evaporators

Utilizing the hydrophilicity of water! Introducing the water drainage issues and solutions in evaporators.

In this column, we will discuss the water drainage issues in car air conditioning evaporators and their solutions. The evaporator draws in warm, humid air and cools and dehumidifies it using the latent heat of refrigerant evaporation, which naturally leads to the generation of condensate. When the air conditioning is turned off, not all of the water is drained; some remains in the evaporator, with an approximate volume of 500cc. When the air conditioning is turned back on and airflow begins, this water is suddenly expelled, causing a phenomenon known as water spitting from the air conditioning vents. Numerous studies have been conducted to solve such problems, and it has now become mainstream to utilize the hydrophilicity of water to reduce the amount of retained water. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. 24P type vacuum and heating type rising and lowering type slurry, evaporator

Simultaneous processing of dispersion, kneading, concentration, drying, and grinding of slurry/paste/powder with one machine! Slurry grinding rotary evaporator.

【Features】 - It can process materials while heating in a vacuum (reduced pressure) environment, maintaining the characteristics of the Ishikawa-type mixing and grinding machine. Additionally, it shortens the drying and concentration processing time. - Processing volume: 7L - The pestle lifting type makes it easy to extract the ground material. - With two pestles (mortar), it is optimal for processes that require reduced processing time and stronger force. 【Suitable Use Cases】 - It can simultaneously disperse, knead, concentrate, and dry slurries, pastes, and colloids, allowing for fine grinding without solidifying the materials. - During the concentration process of slurries and pastes with added solvents, the stirring effect of the pestles and the grinding action of the pestle tips achieve uniform dispersion and kneading. - Utilizing the dehydration effect of vacuum, it can simultaneously grind and break down powder particles, making it possible to remove moisture from hydrates and dry them. It is also suitable for processing materials that are sensitive to moisture. - In a vacuum/reduced pressure atmosphere, and in an inert gas replacement atmosphere such as argon or nitrogen, it can also perform concentration, drying, defoaming, and mixing and grinding processes (simultaneous stirring, grinding, kneading, dispersion, and mixing), making it suitable for processing anaerobic (oxygen-sensitive) materials. - It can also be used to remove moisture from hydrates while grinding and breaking down powder particles, making it suitable for processing materials that are sensitive to moisture.

Plate-type evaporator

Optimal for high-efficiency evaporation in various fields.

The evaporator is a compact yet highly efficient device that concentrates solutions by evaporating solvents such as water. It is constructed by laser welding the seal areas of two plates to create a bag-shaped cassette plate, which is then combined with a gasket. The welded flow paths and the gasket-sealed flow paths are arranged alternately, with steam flowing through the former and process liquid flowing through the latter for concentration. The pressure loss during evaporation is significantly smaller than that of conventional plates due to a specially designed plate pattern, making it less likely to cause uneven flow. In addition to being used for the concentration of sugar solutions, its applications are expanding into various fields such as alcohol distillation and sludge concentration. [Technical Column] Issue 3: Lessons from History - The Story of the "Evaporator"

Looking back at that time, we will introduce the development of compact/lightweight technology and three types of evaporator structures!

In this column, we will introduce the development of compact and lightweight technology. We will briefly explain the three representative "types of evaporator structures" from 40 years ago (the 1980s): "fin & tube type," "serpentine type," and "plate stacked type." Please take a moment to read it. *For detailed content of the column, you can view it through the related links. For more information, please feel free to contact us.
