[Development Case] Antenna for Small Satellites

We would like to introduce a case where the Churida antenna was miniaturized and lightweighted to dimensions of 70mm x 10mm (H) and a mass of approximately 70g.

We would like to introduce a case where we developed a "small satellite-mounted antenna." We were consulted on the development of a small, lightweight medium-gain antenna and a low-elevation directional antenna for use in the X-band. The medium-gain antenna, which is used for high-speed data communication, requires high gain and wideband characteristics. As a solution, the medium-gain antenna was designed as a 4-element patch array to achieve miniaturization and lightweight. The low-elevation antenna was constructed with a helical antenna structure to suppress zenith gain and shape the beam to peak in the 30° elevation direction. Introducing a case where image data was successfully transmitted to the asteroid explorer "Hayabusa2."

We would like to introduce a case where we developed an "antenna for asteroid exploration rovers." As background, there was a request for the development of an antenna to be used for communication between the "asteroid exploration rover" and the Hayabusa2 spacecraft. As a solution, we selected substrate materials that meet environmental conditions and aimed to minimize thickness, reduce profile, and lighten weight, thereby mitigating the impact of vibrations during launch and enabling placement in the gaps between solar panels. Design and Development Product University Joint Use Organization National Institutes of Natural Sciences 800mm Diameter Antenna

We have manufactured a radio heliograph device for the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan's Nobeyama Solar Radio Observatory. This antenna is designed to observe the solar surface, and by arranging a total of 84 parabolic antennas with a diameter of 800mm in a T-shape over an area of 490m east-west and 250m north, it achieves performance equivalent to a 500m diameter antenna.
