Groundwater flow analysis

We predict fluctuations in groundwater levels and the flow of groundwater!

In underground construction work, it is necessary to consider the impact on groundwater. For example, in tunnel construction, the lowering of the groundwater level during excavation and the obstruction of flow after completion can affect surrounding water sources. Additionally, when focusing on river embankments, the infiltration of river water into the embankment and foundation during rainfall can lead to embankment failure. At Applied Technology Co., Ltd., we conduct simulations using FEM analysis software to quantitatively evaluate the flow of groundwater and its associated effects on the ground. We have extensive experience in both disaster prevention and environmental measures regarding groundwater, so please feel free to contact us.

Flow Analysis Service

Measurement of injection flow length using spiral flow.

We measure the resin flow length when injection molding is performed under certain conditions. The mold is designed with a resin injection port at the center, and a spiral groove with a constant spacing based on an Archimedean spiral is used. A flow velocity meter is incorporated within the cavity to measure the flow velocity immediately after injection. Additionally, a flow velocity sensor installed in the mold allows for the determination of the initial flow velocity into the cavity, as well as the shear rate and shear viscosity at the time of passing through the sensor. [Features] ■ Capable of calculating shear rate and shear viscosity during cavity passage ■ Allows comparison of flow length and shear viscosity *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Analysis of airflow in the subway station when the train enters.

I analyzed the airflow in the subway station using the moving boundary problem.

It is known that there are significant speed and pressure fluctuations at the front and rear of vehicles running in narrow spaces such as tunnels and subway stations. In this analysis, we conducted simulations regarding the impact on the area around the platform (airflow, pressure) when a train passes, using the moving boundary problem. Failure analysis of electrostatic discharge damaged orange LED.

We will introduce a comparison of the brightness and characteristics of good products and electrostatic discharge (ESD) damaged products, along with examples of luminescence analysis using EMS microscopy!

We conduct failure analysis of orange LEDs that have been damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). LEDs that have been destroyed during ESD testing and show a decrease in luminous intensity can be analyzed using emission photometry and the IR-OBIRCH method, allowing us to clarify the failure phenomena. We have examples such as "Comparison of brightness and characteristics between good products and ESD-damaged products" and "Emission analysis using an emission microscope." [Analysis Examples] ■ Comparison of brightness and characteristics between good products and ESD-damaged products - By polishing the lens part of a bullet-type LED to flatten it, a brightness comparison was conducted, revealing dark areas. ■ Emission analysis using an emission microscope - In the ESD-damaged products, dark areas were observed under forward bias, while only the damaged areas emitted light under reverse bias. ■ IR-OBIRCH and SEI analysis - Detailed damage locations were identified through IR-OBIRCH analysis of ESD-damaged products. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Moving Boundary: Analysis of Wind Pressure Acting on a Running Train

We analyzed the aerodynamic pressure exerted by a moving train.

Moving Boundary: The analysis of wind pressure acting on a moving train was conducted using numerical simulations that take into account the moving boundary. It has been pointed out that strong winds, such as those caused by typhoons, pose a risk of overturning moving trains. Therefore, understanding the wind pressure acting on a moving train is important. For more details, please download the catalog.

Heat flow analysis in thermal storage tank

Reproduction of ducts and structures inside the heat storage tank, thermal flow analysis related to liquid flow velocity and temperature stratification.

The thermal flow analysis within the thermal storage tank reproduces the ducts and structures inside the tank and conducts thermal flow analysis regarding the flow velocity and temperature stratification of the liquid within the tank. When predicting the performance of the thermal storage tank, it is crucial to understand the temperature distribution changes of the fluid inside the tank. This characteristic is greatly influenced by the shape and flow velocity within the tank, affecting the temperature stratification of the liquid in the thermal storage tank. FlowDesigner Reverse Analysis!

A thermal fluid analysis tool that goes beyond the limits of trial and error.

In general thermal fluid analysis software, designers only input their proposed designs to simulate airflow and temperature distribution. Therefore, if the initial design conditions do not achieve the desired design target, the designer must repeatedly reconsider improvement conditions themselves. To find improvement proposals that can meet the design goals, it is necessary to conduct a vast number of analyses. How can one find a design proposal that achieves the design goals within a limited design review period? FlowDesigner’s inverse analysis function is the only simulation software that can provide the answer!

Train passing airflow analysis

We analyzed the airflow when the vehicles pass each other using the moving boundary problem.

It is known that there are significant fluctuations in speed and pressure before and after trains pass each other in narrow spaces such as tunnels and subway stations. This is very important for the design of vehicles, tunnels, and associated structures. In this analysis, we simulated the airflow and pressure fluctuations affecting the surroundings when the vehicles pass each other, using a moving boundary problem. Natural ventilation analysis with wind.

We will conduct thermal airflow simulations in the basic design phase plan.

In recent years, there have been many cases where natural ventilation utilizing outside air is actively incorporated during the intermediate period and other times. Among these, a ventilation method that uses shafts installed within the building as exhaust and supply air systems has been considered from the basic design stage to efficiently carry out natural ventilation. The selection of appropriate locations and sizes for supply and exhaust openings is of great importance, and conducting thermal airflow simulations allows for insights into the overall operation of the building. In this analysis, we assumed windy conditions and conducted thermal airflow simulations based on the plans from the basic design stage. For more details, please download the catalog.
