[On-site Trouble Case] Cracking on the road surface and damage to the subgrade after pulling out a steel plate.

Cracks appeared on the embankment road surface immediately after pulling out the soil anchor! Introducing the causes and proposed countermeasures.

This is a case regarding a crack that occurred on the surface of a levee road immediately after the extraction of soil-retaining steel sheets in river construction adjacent to the levee road. When the steel sheets were pulled out at the end of the temporary period, viscous soil adhered to them and was lifted along with the sheets. As a result, a void of the size of the cross-section of the steel sheet type IV + α occurred within the ground. It is estimated that the surrounding ground moved into the void that formed within the ground, causing subsidence on the surface of the surrounding ground and resulting in cracks. 【Countermeasure Proposal】 ■ Apply a friction-reducing agent (friction cutter) to the temporary steel sheets in advance to prevent adhesion between the temporary steel sheets and the ground soil, thereby minimizing the ground voids that occur during the extraction of the steel sheets. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Example of MLT construction method: "Pre-excavation of steel sheet piles"

Introducing a site where the MLT method has been successfully completed!

This is an introduction to a construction example of "steel sheet pile pre-excavation" using the "MLT method." "Steel sheet pile pre-excavation" is an auxiliary work for driving steel sheet piles into hard ground. In the construction of driving revetment sheet piles within the fishing port at the mouth of the Agano River, there were old paving stones (granite) at GL-2m, and boulders up to 700mm were cut into core shapes and removed using the MLT machine. Additionally, it was also adopted in the disaster recovery work for the Igarashi River by the Sanjo Regional Promotion Bureau of Niigata Prefecture. 【Construction Example 1】 ■ Client: Hokuriku Regional Development Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism ■ Project Name: Matsuhama Special Embankment Disaster Recovery and Other Works ■ Details: Driving revetment sheet piles within the fishing port at the mouth of the Agano River *For more details, please visit our website or feel free to contact us.

Lightweight and durable aluminum sheet piles for earth retention work (aluminum trench).

Lightweight! Aluminum sheet piles (aluminum trench) that are about 1/3 the weight of lightweight steel sheet piles type 1, suitable for general temporary earth retention in small-scale excavation works up to a depth of 3.8 meters!

Aluminum sheet piles are the ideal product for temporary soil retention in small-scale excavation work up to a depth of 3.8 meters. Typically, eight pieces of lightweight steel sheet pile type 1 are required for each meter of excavation length on both sides, but with the aluminum sheet pile "HAY-3833N," it can be constructed with just six pieces. Additionally, its weight is about one-third that of lightweight steel sheet pile type 1, significantly improving work efficiency from transportation to installation and removal. 【Features】 - Lightweight, approximately one-third the weight of lightweight steel sheet pile type 1! - Can be constructed with six pieces per meter of excavation length. (Applicable for HAY-3833N) - Using dedicated accessories (driving tools and extraction tools / sold separately) improves work efficiency and prevents damage to the tips of the sheet piles during installation and removal. - There is no front or back to the shape, making it easy to use and enhancing work efficiency. - Excellent strength due to the cross-sectional shape and reinforcement at both ends. - Being lightweight reduces fuel consumption during transportation and shortens operating time for heavy machinery such as backhoes, thereby reducing CO2 emissions. - Made of aluminum, it is resistant to rust and can be used for a long time. - Even after use, it has a high residual value for recycling, making it economical. *For more details, please download the catalog or contact us directly.

PC sheet piles for harbors

It is a port structure that is highly durable even under harsh environmental conditions in harbor and coastal areas, does not require corrosion protection, and contributes to minimal maintenance.

The PC sheet piles for ports are corrugated prestressed concrete sheet piles (with a nominal width of 1250mm) standardized by JIS A5373. The applications of PC sheet piles for ports are diverse, including use for revetments, stabilization, prevention of circular sliding of slope embankments, quays, loading areas, guide walls, and breakwaters. Additionally, under a strict quality control system in the factory, prestressing is introduced using the pretension method, and high-quality concrete is utilized, resulting in excellent durability and aesthetics. [Construction Example] Soil Retention Work - Auger Insertion

Introducing the auger-assisted press-in method for embedding sheet piles while excavating with a screw!

The "auger combined pressure insertion method" involves installing sheet piles in the chuck device of the auger machine, rotating the screw inside the casing to excavate while embedding the sheet piles. To embed the next sheet pile, the auger machine is moved, and the next sheet pile is installed in the chuck device. The chuck device is rotated 180° to change the orientation of the sheet pile, and while excavating with the screw, the sheet pile is embedded. This process is repeated for construction. 【Features】 ■ Sheet piles are installed in the chuck device of the auger machine ■ The screw inside the casing is rotated to excavate while embedding the sheet piles *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[On-site Trouble Case] 10 cm settlement of a bridge pier immediately after construction.

Discovered during inspection after the pull-out of the arrow board! Introducing the estimated causes and proposed countermeasure methods.

This is a case study about a new bridge construction project with a length of approximately 40 meters and two spans, where differential settlement of the bridge piers occurred after the construction of the substructure. Upon examining the collected data, it was found that a cohesive soil layer exists at a depth of more than 2 meters, which is shallower than the depth of the sheet piles. During the extraction of the steel sheet piles, there was soil adhesion from these cohesive soils, resulting in voids within the ground due to the thickness of the steel sheet piles and the attached soil. It is estimated that the surrounding ground moved into the voids that formed within the ground, leading to settlement of the foundation ground. 【Countermeasure Proposal】 - Apply a friction-reducing agent (friction cutter agent) to the temporary steel sheet piles in advance to prevent the adhesion between the temporary steel sheet piles and the ground soil, thereby minimizing the ground voids that occur during the extraction of the steel sheet piles. - By filling the voids that have formed with materials such as cement-bentonite, it is possible to bring the displacement close to zero. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.*

[On-site Trouble Case] The test water tank sank when the steel arrow board was pulled out.

Learning from cases where steel arrows could not be removed: estimated causes and proposed countermeasures!

This is a case where the test water tank sank after pulling out the temporary soil retaining steel sheet pile for the water tank structure work, and the steel sheet pile could not be removed. When the steel sheet pile was pulled out at the end of the temporary period, the viscous soil adhered to it and was pulled up together. As a result, a void of the size of the steel sheet pile plus additional material occurred within the ground. The surrounding ground moved into the void that formed within the ground, and it is estimated that the water tank structure also sank into the void, causing the tank to sink. 【Countermeasure Proposal】 ■ Apply a friction reduction agent (friction cutter agent) to the temporary steel sheet pile in advance to prevent adhesion between the temporary steel sheet pile and the ground soil, thereby minimizing the ground voids that occur during the pulling out of the steel sheet pile. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
