Puzzle Splicer Mini
"World's first" splicing jig that allows electronic component carrier tape to be connected in a puzzle-like manner without metal fittings.
In the small and medium lot substrate assembly market, setting strip carriers in tape feeders presents numerous challenges and is extremely difficult. ■ To ensure the length of the leader section, we are forced to discard valuable electronic components! ■ Even if empty carrier tapes are connected using conventional methods, they lack strength. The connection part can break during the tape set operation. (The splicing tape for mass production only works because it connects to the end of the tape that has already been set in the feeder.) Due to these difficulties, only skilled workers can perform the tasks. The labor required is excessive. We have given up on using assembly machines and resorted to manual placement for prototypes. (Prototype costs increase! The methods differ from mass production, making evaluation impossible.) As a solution to these challenges, our company has commercialized a jig called Puzzle Splicer that can cut and join carrier tapes in a puzzle-like manner. It connects paper tapes and embossed tapes firmly in a short time. Additionally, it allows not only for the processing of prototype strip carriers but also for "connecting leftover parts that have become odd numbers," "dividing one reel of parts into two for production on two lines," "connecting two reels to reduce part exchange time loss," and "connecting carrier raw materials."
