Surface hardening heat treatment method "Nitriding Quenching"

Heat treatment technology that finishes thin materials without distortion and with a hard finish! Also accommodates short delivery times.

This is a new surface hardening heat treatment method that allows nitrogen to penetrate and diffuse into steel, followed by quenching from the austenite state. By introducing nitrogen and performing quenching, a surface hardness of approximately 850 HV can be achieved even with inexpensive SPCC material, and it is possible to increase hardness within the range where nitrogen has diffused internally. The amount of distortion is about half that of carburizing and nitriding quenching, and only slightly larger than gas soft nitriding. The friction coefficient and seizure surface pressure are almost equivalent to those of carburizing and nitriding quenching, while the wear amount is half that of carburizing nitriding materials and one-third that of gas soft nitriding materials, which is quite favorable. 【Features】 - The surface roughness of the samples after treatment is good. - The time required for treatment can be significantly reduced to about 1/3 to 1/4 of that for gas soft nitriding. - It has a tempering softening resistance comparable to that of carburizing. - The amount of distortion is about half that of carburizing nitriding. - Superiority in friction and wear characteristics has also been demonstrated. *For more details, please refer to the catalog or feel free to contact us.

"Partial high-strength steel" high-frequency hardening

This is a steel material that achieves multiple strengths with a single bar of steel. By using high-frequency quenching, only the areas that require high strength and high durability can be made to have high strength.

In conventional heat treatment using furnaces, it was difficult to apply heat to the entire steel material while only treating the necessary parts. However, by utilizing high-frequency induction heating (IH) to selectively harden only a portion of the steel (enhancing strength and durability), we have achieved multiple strength levels with a single steel rod. By placing high-strength sections in areas that require structural integrity and low-strength sections in other areas, it is possible to control damage and reduce material usage. Using this technology and product, we have started selling high-strength rebar placed in column-beam joints, named "Double Stark®," which contributes to damage control in structures, reduction of rebar quantity, improved workability, and comfortable living spaces. *In 2018, we received the "Super" Monozukuri Parts Award and the Lifestyle-Related Parts Award.

[Processing Technology] Vacuum Carburizing (Direct Carburizing)

There are no grain boundary oxidation or carburization irregularities on the surface layer, so the inner surfaces of the pores are also possible! Quality improvement can be expected.

"Vacuum carburizing hardening" is a carburizing hardening method conducted in a vacuum furnace. Acetylene gas supplied into the furnace undergoes thermal decomposition, and the resulting carbon penetrates and diffuses from the surface. In addition to the carburizing effect, there is no grain boundary oxidation or carburizing unevenness in the surface layer, making it possible for the inner surfaces of pores as well. Moreover, since it finishes with a bright luster, an improvement in quality can be expected compared to conventional carburizing hardening. [Features] - Carburizing hardening method conducted in a vacuum furnace - In addition to the carburizing effect, it allows for the inner surfaces of pores due to the absence of grain boundary oxidation and carburizing unevenness in the surface layer - Finishes with a bright luster - Quality improvement can be expected compared to conventional carburizing hardening - JIS processing symbol: HQV *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Zero CO2 Emissions: New Heat Treatment Method 'Nitriding Quenching' with Minimal Distortion Even for Thin Materials

A new heat treatment method that contributes to "environmental impact reduction" and "low distortion" compared to conventional carburizing quenching! Zero CO2 emissions with ammonia quenching.

Aitec's "Nitriding Hardening" is a surface hardening heat treatment method that allows nitrogen to penetrate and diffuse into steel, followed by quenching from the austenite state, resulting in low distortion and unique properties. This heat treatment method involves the infiltration and solid solution of nitrogen into steel in the austenite region (γ) of the Fe-N2 phase diagram. It is then rapidly cooled to produce hard nitrogen martensite. Unlike conventional "carburizing hardening," this process uses ammonia for quenching, resulting in zero CO2 emissions during the treatment process! It can be proposed as a new treatment method that considers environmental impact. **Benefits of Nitriding Hardening** ★ No CO2 emissions due to ammonia quenching - High surface hardness of HMV800 or more even with SPCC materials - Lower quenching temperature than carburizing, resulting in low distortion (with a proven example of 50% reduction in distortion) - High resistance to softening - Total cost reduction without distortion correction ~ "Decarbonized Heat Treatment Nitriding Hardening Seminar" Video Now Available for Free! ~ ◆ Theme: Decarbonized Heat Treatment Nitriding Hardening Seminar - Exploring the Possibilities from Carburizing to Nitriding ◆ Available Video: Nitriding Hardening Mass Production & Development Case Studies ◆ How to View: From the YouTube link at the bottom of this page *For detailed information, please refer to the technical materials available for download in the [PDF Download] section below.
