Introduction of a case study where approximately 20% of the factory's electricity consumption was covered by solar power generation.

We spoke with Kunimoto Industrial Co., Ltd. about the purpose and effects of introducing solar power generation and battery storage systems at their Hamakita factory. The systems were implemented with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions during normal times, improving business continuity during power outages, and striving to support the local community during emergencies or disasters. Power generation began in December 2021, and within six months, they generated 280,852 kWh. The effect of reducing greenhouse gas emissions is approximately a reduction of 114 tons of CO2 per kWh. Biogas power generation involves fermenting biomass resources, such as food waste like kitchen scraps and vegetable peels, sewage sludge, and livestock manure, in an anaerobic environment to produce biogas, which is then used for electricity generation. Our company's kitchen waste processing system (disposer) is utilized for the pretreatment of food waste, and since all wastewater is fed into the device, there is no need for equipment such as solid-liquid separation systems, allowing for a reduction in equipment size and installation costs.
