Su pipe fittings (JIS B 2309 general piping stainless steel butt-weld pipe fittings) can be delivered in a short lead time due to inventory availability.
Su joints (JIS B 2309) are manufactured primarily for use in general water supply and hot water piping in hotels, apartments, hospitals, building construction, and factory piping. They are characterized by being thinner than butt-welded pipe fittings produced according to JIS B 2311 and JIS B 2312, which allows for cost reduction. Additionally, considering automatic welding at the construction site, the bevel is designed as a plain end. The maximum allowable pressure is set at 2.0 MPa, and due to the thin wall thickness, even small diameter fittings feature a wide inner diameter, ensuring sufficient flow capacity. Benkan Kiko has a wealth of delivery experience in welded pipe fittings for all nuclear power plants in Japan. Utilizing our expertise in strict quality control for nuclear applications, management of documentation and quality records, and techniques for long and circumferential welding of items subject to inspection by welding contractors, we manufacture not only items subject to welding contractor inspection but also prefabricated piping where nuclear management is required. We have a significant track record in construction measures necessary for the recent restart of nuclear power plants. In particular, we manufacture and deliver prefabricated piping that combines fittings, flanges, nozzles, and nipples for fire protection piping, which traditionally does not require nuclear management. We also conduct strength calculations for these flanges, nozzles, and nipples based on JSME (Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers) standards. By manufacturing from seamless pipes instead of machining, we can achieve cost reduction!
In the variety of welded pipe fittings, elbows, tees, and reducers are common, but fittings that have branches on both the top and bottom, resembling a cross shape, are referred to as "crosses" due to their cross-like appearance. These are pipe fittings not specified by JIS, and most are manufactured by machining from forged materials. However, Benkan Kiko is capable of producing them using the bulging method (hydraulic forming) from seamless pipes. The machining method tends to result in heavier weights and often produces angular shapes, which can make welding on-site difficult, according to some feedback. Additionally, the machining process from a solid block requires a significant amount of material, leading to higher material costs and increased processing costs. On the other hand, manufacturing through forming from seamless pipes achieves smooth shapes, uniform wall thickness, and lighter product weights, while also enabling cost reductions. This cost advantage becomes more pronounced with high-cost materials such as stainless steel and non-ferrous metals like nickel, resulting in significant benefits.
