A project to deliver Sadako's origami cranes to people around the world, donated to the leaders of the G7 summit countries, Pope Francis, and former President Obama.
Castem manufactures and sells Sadako Sasaki's origami crane "SADAKO," recreated in metal by combining precision casting technology with the latest digital technology. The initiative was prompted by the challenge of preserving and inheriting the origami cranes of Sadako, who lost her life due to the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Currently, there are about 100 origami cranes remaining with the Sasaki family and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Although there have been requests for donations from both domestic and international sources, the number is limited, and it is not possible to meet all requests. Being made of paper, the cranes deteriorate over time, and proper preservation requires specialized knowledge and expensive equipment. To address these challenges, Castem utilized 3D scanning and precision casting technology to accurately recreate Sadako's origami cranes. The stainless steel SADAKO, faithfully reproducing the texture of the paper and the creases, can be preserved permanently and conveys a message of peace to the world. SADAKO was presented to the leaders of various countries at the G7 Hiroshima Summit in 2023, and it will be gifted to Pope Francis in 2024 and former President Obama in 2025, playing a role in spreading the wish for peace worldwide. Castem believes in the symbolic power of this story and the origami crane, and aims to contribute to peace by continuing to promote the project of delivering SADAKO to people around the world.

I was involved in the production of the "touchable" model of Kencho-ji Temple in Kamakura City.
The "touchable" model of Kenchoji Temple was conceived by the Universal Picture Book Library UniLeaf (representative: Toshie Ooshita, located in Hayama, Kanagawa Prefecture) with the concept of allowing visually impaired individuals to feel historical buildings with their hands, enabling everyone to share the excitement of travel together. Subsequently, it received significant support through grants from the "Support Fund" and crowdfunding, leading to its production. To realize the concept of feeling historical buildings through touch, a 1/50 scale miniature of the Kenchoji Temple Buddha Hall was meticulously recreated in bronze, paying close attention to detail. Our company was responsible for the production of the castings, which consist of approximately 30 parts. This unique technology, known as 'Digital Cast,' allows for the production of one-of-a-kind items without the need for mold fabrication. The model has been permanently installed in front of the Kenchoji Buddha Hall since the day after the ceremony, allowing visitors to touch it freely. If you visit Kenchoji Temple in Kamakura, please take a look.
