The sheath heater, which had corroded and broken after three months, has been in use for over 1.5 years after changing the sheath material and applying a coating to the sheath. By using multiple sheath tubes (not just layering them but also reducing the diameter for better adhesion), it is still in use even after two years. (This is not a guaranteed value.)
