This is a column written by our representative, Kazuaki Sawada, sharing insights accumulated in the field of business revitalization, management improvement, and banking relations.
This time, the theme is "awareness of being a stakeholder," and the related column I chose is "Are Executives Becoming Critics? How Small and Medium Enterprises Can Break Free from 'CEO Dependency'." It begins by stating that "executives are not the ones who explain the results, but rather the ones who take action first to change the results," and further emphasizes the importance of clarifying responsibilities, authority, and deadlines to foster a sense of ownership.

Applications/Examples of results
The job of management executives is not to critique the results after they occur, but to create results on the ground. If they only point out "what went wrong" or "why it couldn't be done" afterward, they are merely critics. Management executives are required to take proactive measures before problems arise. When an executive who had been detached from a project was appointed as the overall responsible person, their behavior changed. They began to think for themselves about "who will do what by when," and they became accountable for their statements. A sense of ownership cannot be developed through mental attitude alone. It is important to clarify responsibilities and authority, place individuals in positions where they can think for themselves, execute, and verify results. Next time, I will discuss "the significance of formulating a medium-term management plan."
