Controlling one's own motivation is very challenging, but the most strongly required ability for a manager is "passion." There are five types of passion: 1. "Self-igniting type" that can ignite themselves. 2. "Ignition type" that not only ignites themselves but can also ignite others. 3. "Combustible type" that ignites with a match struck by the "ignition type." 4. "Non-combustible type" that does not ignite at all. 5. "Extinguishing type" that not only does not ignite themselves but extinguishes the fire of others. It goes without saying that managers must be of the "ignition type." It is also clear that without "passion," one cannot achieve their goals. About 80% of whether employees are motivated or not is the responsibility of the manager. Passion (i.e., motivation) is indeed necessary, and while the "self-igniting type" is desirable, one must at least be of the "combustible type." Most of the complaints from employees are close to grumbling. This is an act of the "extinguishing type" that dampens the motivation of the colleagues listening. Whether one perceives the events in front of them positively or negatively is entirely a matter of their own mindset. Next time, I will share "Six Factors That Hinder Execution."
