Geothermal Facility Introduction Case: Canadian Department of Natural Resources Housing Experimental Building
~Expected as measures against heatwave damage in the European region~
A demonstration test of a geothermal power system was conducted at the Housing Experiment Building of the Canadian Ministry of Natural Resources in Ottawa, Canada, for cold regions such as North America. As initially anticipated, the average ground temperature at around 5 meters deep was low, approximately 10°C, due to the lower average temperatures compared to western Japan. However, the significant fluctuations in outdoor temperatures proved the effectiveness of utilizing the temperature difference in the geothermal power system. Particularly, the utilization of cooling and heating in summer is effective, and it is expected to be one of the solutions to the heatwave damage issues that have been a problem in European regions in recent years.
