basic information
【Lecture Overview】 Japan aims to capture over 30% of the global market share, targeting 20 trillion yen in the multi-purpose robot market, which is expected to expand to approximately 60 trillion yen by 2040. While Japan has led the world in industrial robots and precision parts, it has fallen behind the US and China in the service robot sector, and its national strategy had not been updated for a decade. To overcome this crisis, the Robot Parliamentary League was established in March 2025, leading to a cabinet decision on a new strategy for a robust policy framework after a series of proposals. In March of this year, the AI Robotics Strategy was formulated. This lecture will report on the discussions and policy outcomes from the parliamentary league, as well as discuss Japan's winning strategies and specific challenges for social implementation as indicated by the strategy. 【Lecture Topics】 ■ The Arrival of the Physical AI Era—What Will Change ■ Cutting-Edge Technology and the Frontlines of Robotics in the US ■ Why Only Robots?—Japan's Social Issues ■ Japan's Winning Strategy—How to Leverage a "Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity" ■ Initiatives and Policy Outcomes of the Robot Parliamentary League ■ Overview of the AI Robotics Strategy ■ Specifics of Social Implementation and Sectoral Outlook ■ Related Q&A ■ Business Card and Information Exchange Session
