【Lecture Overview】 In recent years, with the advancement of aging populations, the production and usage of disposable diapers have been on the rise. According to estimates by the Ministry of the Environment, the amount of discarded used disposable diapers is expected to reach 2.6 million tons by fiscal year 2030, accounting for about 7.0% of general waste disposal. A key challenge is how to reduce the environmental impact of this disposal. In this initiative, we will first separate the collected used disposable diapers into their raw materials through a dissolution treatment rather than the commonly practiced incineration. This is expected to reduce CO2 emissions compared to incineration.
