Achieving low-power monitoring of steel bridge deflection! Introducing examples of system construction.
As many domestic bridges are simultaneously reaching their service life, deflection is one of the important indicators in bridge maintenance management. In deflection monitoring, there has been a demand for a power-efficient battery-operated system that can acquire three-axis acceleration data at multiple points on the girder over the medium to long term. The Sonas x series has responded to this need by establishing a system that can continuously acquire deflection values on actual road bridges. This application note presents a case study of a system built to efficiently collect acceleration data at the timing of large vehicles passing through, aimed at the continuous acquisition of deflection values on road bridges. *For more details on the case study, please refer to the related links. Sonas is a venture company originating from the University of Tokyo, with its core technology being the independently developed IoT wireless system "UNISONet." UNISONet is the world's first wireless technology to successfully apply industrial use through an innovative transmission method called "simultaneous transmission flooding." By making IoT "easy," UNISONet dramatically accelerates its social implementation, overcoming the challenges that have significantly limited its application areas. The name "Sonas" is derived from the phrase meaning "to lay the foundation." Sonas's mission is to enable various industries to benefit from IoT as a matter of course, thereby propelling society forward.
