The beauty of shadows created by folding allows for a uniquely different spatial presentation. Examples of origami lighting and folded shape curtains are currently being showcased.
"SORIORI" is a service that realizes three-dimensional decorative shapes from flat materials through design and processing based on folding engineering. We are well-versed in the manufacturing methods of folds for each material, enabling designs tailored to the characteristics of materials such as resin, paper, and metal. [Introducing Two Examples] ◎ Origami Lighting "Snow Reflection": Hotel An original lighting piece that combines "washi," which possesses three characteristics: strength, preservation, and moisture absorption, with the traditional culture of "origami," boasting a history of 1700 years. It recreates the sparkle of snow gently accumulating on Mount Hakuba and its soft expression, with the shape of washi reinterpreted alongside Japan's natural beauty, casting soft shadows reminiscent of snow under moonlight. ◎ Custom Folded Curtains: Office A folded curtain that combines folding engineering, which is also applied in outer space, with roller screens. It addresses the gentle diffusion of natural light and the sound absorption effects of reflection, achieving a balance between functionality and design. *For more details, please refer to the materials. Company information
We are a company that develops products and conducts research and development using "folding engineering," which applies the culture of "origami," a traditional Japanese technique, to the field of engineering, as well as manufacturing three-dimensional shapes and decorative items. Product Development: We develop original products that balance the design and functionality of folding. Research and Development: We can provide solutions for 1. controlling various physical properties through surface irregularities, and 2. eliminating trade-offs by changing shapes. Specifically, by incorporating folding shapes into the surfaces of products (such as casings), we can achieve functions such as "thinning" and "shock absorption" due to increased structural strength. Additionally, it is also possible to control physical properties such as sound, light, and heat. Manufacturing of Three-Dimensional Shapes/Decorative Items: We can manufacture decorative items with complex three-dimensional shapes at a low cost from flat sheets using folding techniques. Please feel free to contact us with any inquiries.
