Real-time and high-precision measurement of snow depth! "ALPHIoT POWER" has been adopted as the power source for the snow monitoring system.

Mitachi Sangyo Co., Ltd. has developed a system that monitors snowfall conditions in snowy areas using sensors. When deciding whether to dispatch snowplows, municipal staff used to physically patrol to check the snow accumulation. However, with the introduction of the new system, snowfall amounts can now be monitored automatically. It has already been trialed in over 10 municipalities, mainly in the Tohoku and Hokuriku regions, with some having officially adopted it. Dedicated devices equipped with sensors are installed on poles, such as streetlights, at a height of about 3 to 5 meters above the ground to measure the snow depth on the road. The data is displayed on a computer or smartphone screen, allowing for real-time monitoring, and notifications are sent via email or phone when the values exceed pre-set thresholds. The dedicated devices have been upgraded to a multi-point version equipped with multiple sensors, improving measurement accuracy and enhancing waterproof performance. Our product "ALPHIoT POWER" being IP66 compliant was a key factor in its adoption. There is no concern about solar panels losing power due to snow accumulation, allowing for long-term operation without the need for removal after a single installation.
