I will explain the sustainable public transportation system through a specific case in the city of Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
The Global Environment Outlook (GEO-6) report issued by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) emphasizes that the development of sustainable transportation is a crucial element of global sustainability. This report points out the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving energy efficiency in the transportation sector. Additionally, among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations for 2030, Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and Goal 13 (Climate Action) reiterate the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the improvement of sustainable, safe, and accessible transportation systems.
