[DX Case Study] Alternative Use of Work Sampling in Factories

A case where it became possible to measure working hours even during busy periods, allowing for the calculation of highly accurate standard times.

We would like to introduce a case study of a company's digital transformation (DX) that was measuring work time using the "work sampling method." Samco, a company that manufactures silicon wafers for semiconductors, regularly conducted work sampling with stopwatches and observers in factories across the country to calculate standard times. However, during busy periods when the factories were operating at full capacity, they faced challenges as they could not assign observers. To address this, they provided workers with smartphones equipped with the "Jobtan" app, a tool for measuring work time using smartphones or tablets. This enabled them to measure work time even during busy periods, allowing for the calculation of highly accurate standard times.
