As a solution to environmental issues related to fiber, we have independently launched and are operating the project "LESS MICRO PLASTIC," which conducts original fiber quality inspections and certifications, as well as product development. Since 2021, we have started to reduce microplastic emissions and develop products that consider marine environmental conservation. Through a movement that involves society, we are assisting in the development and dissemination of materials necessary for a new future in the textile industry.

Microplastics, which are gaining attention as a cause of ocean pollution. One of the sources of these microplastics is the fibers that shed from clothing. It is said that over 30% of the microplastics present in the ocean come from fibers. Clothing is unknowingly polluting the sea. I believe that all companies involved in textiles have a responsibility in this situation. The goal of this initiative is to promote the development of products that generate fewer microplastics and to expand their use, so that textiles and the rich lives they bring do not contribute to ocean pollution.

◆Original Testing: We have developed a unique testing method (patent pending) to measure the emission of microplastic fibers. Currently, we are providing testing services at the request of textile and apparel manufacturers. By examining multiple commercially available products, we are also able to understand the average emission of microplastics. We are also starting to disseminate information based on the findings from our tests. ◆Support for Fabric and Product Development: Based on our testing technology, we identify the mechanisms by which microplastics are emitted. Using this knowledge, we assist in the development of fabrics and clothing that produce fewer microplastics. ◆Unique Certification: Utilizing the insights gained from the average emission levels identified through testing, as well as the reductions achieved through fabric and clothing development support, we are also implementing a certification system for materials that emit fewer microplastics. We believe that reducing microplastics should be a movement involving both the industry and consumers, as it is an effective strategy for decreasing emissions. Therefore, by displaying certification marks on tags and other items, we aim to communicate the reality of pollution caused by microplastic fibers and propose low-emission options as solutions.
