[Municipal Bicycle Parking Case] Securing Large Bicycle Accommodation Areas by Maximizing Use of Under Elevated Structures
By adopting a vertical two-tier rack, we achieve effective utilization of space under the beam while ensuring ease of use for the upper rack!
We would like to introduce a case study of a public bicycle parking facility directly connected to Kita-Ayase Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line, which maximizes the use of space under the elevated structure to accommodate large bicycles. We proposed a redistribution of bicycle racks to accommodate a total of 400 bikes, ensuring that large bicycles could be easily stored. Recognizing that maximizing the number of upper racks was crucial, the design team conducted on-site measurements due to the strict height limitations under the beams. As a result, we efficiently utilized the space under the beams to fit approximately 400 desired racks, and in addition to the area for large bicycles, we were able to secure a flat area that can accommodate various types of bicycles.
