Starting from April 1, 2024, it will be mandatory for workplaces that handle chemical substances such as sodium hypochlorite (bleach), sodium hydroxide, and potassium hydroxide to require the wearing of protective eyewear. 【Details of the New Regulation】 ■ Workplace Structure 1. Workers handling chemical substances must wear appropriate protective gear, such as protective eyewear. 2. Establishment of a system for self-management. (1) Appoint a chemical substance manager. (2) Appoint a protective gear management officer. ■ Prevention of Direct Contact with Hazardous Chemical Substances When engaging workers in tasks that involve the manufacturing or handling of chemical substances that are skin or eye irritants, corrosive to the skin, or can be absorbed through the skin and cause health issues, it is necessary to require workers to use protective gear to prevent injuries, according to the harmfulness of the substances.
