Applications/Examples of results
In the cultivation device plant cellar, six test plants were planted in each tier of the four-tier cultivation shelf and harvested after 21 days. Three of the six planted plants were selected and designated as observation plants, and their plant height, plant width, leaf length, leaf width, and relative chlorophyll content (SPAD) were measured weekly during the cultivation period. After harvesting, fresh weight (FW) was measured (g/3 plants). Water contained in the urethane medium and roots of each sample plant was carefully squeezed out, and the total FW was measured. After measuring the total FW, the plants were cut near the top of the urethane medium, and the edible part FW and non-edible part weight were measured separately. Furthermore, different light irradiation patterns were set under various conditions, and by measuring plant growth and yield, the most efficient light irradiation pattern was identified.
