We received a consultation regarding concerns about unusual noises from the motor and fan in the cooling tower. Although the customer replaced the V-belt, the unusual noise did not improve. We selected our engineering service provider and conducted an on-site inspection. After a detailed diagnosis of the motor and fan conditions, it was determined that the causes were wear on the motor-side bearings, wear on the fan bearing section, wear on the bracket, and wear on the pulley. By conducting the on-site investigation, we were able to confirm the problematic areas together with the customer, discuss any questions regarding the repair locations on-site, and consider the risks of equipment downtime in the event of future failures, leading to the decision to proceed with the repairs.

It took two weeks to procure the materials, and all parts were replaced, reassembled, and various inspections were conducted over two days on-site, resolving the abnormal noise. Until now, from a preventive maintenance perspective, the customer had been diligently carrying out replacement work for deteriorated parts, but it seems that the work was often limited to visible areas, making it difficult to identify the source of the abnormal noise. The current work was only on the upper part of the cooling tower, but the service provider who visited noticed issues with the submersible pump within the same equipment and reported it to the customer. Later, we proposed and executed the replacement and overhaul of that submersible pump, which the customer appreciated as a valuable opportunity to review their inspection process.
