CRDS Moisture Meter - Principle of the Tiger Optics Series
Laser light is directed into a stainless steel cavity equipped with high-reflectivity mirrors at both ends. The light then bounces back and forth, traveling hundreds of kilometers in less than one millisecond. After raising the light to a predetermined threshold, it is cut off, and the time it takes for the light intensity to disappear (ring-down) is measured. The time is inversely proportional to the presence of molecules in the sample, allowing us to read the moisture content from that.
