The dials of mechanical pressure gauges and thermometers contain various pieces of information. This is defined by standards such as EN 837 and EN 13190, and care must be taken when reading them. In mechanical pressure gauges and bimetallic or gas thermometers, the measured values are indicated by a pointer. The dial contains the following information: Units: For pressure measurement, units such as bar, psi, and kPa are used, while for temperature measurement, Celsius and Fahrenheit are used. Accuracy class: For pressure gauges, this indicates how much the measured value can deviate from the scale in percentage. Typical accuracy classes for pressure gauges are 0.6, 1.0, 1.6, and 2.5. For mechanical thermometers, the accuracy classes are 1 and 2. The accuracy class indicates the maximum error based on the scale range (in accordance with EN 13190). The scale is very important for correctly reading the measuring instrument. The scale of the pressure gauge is displayed accurately within a range of 270 degrees (angle). In the case of mechanical thermometers, this scale can deviate by up to 20 degrees (angle).
