■Measurement Method A robust diamond stylus traces the measurement target. The motorized traverse unit moves horizontally with precision over a predetermined distance, driven by a cam. The vertical motion of the stylus as it follows the surface irregularities of the sample is converted from mechanical motion to an electrical signal by a precise piezo pickup, which detects the measurement values. The electrical signals emitted from the piezo element are digitized and sent to a microprocessor. The microprocessor uses standardized algorithms to instantly calculate the parameters.
