Detailed information
-
Iwami Ginzan is one of the world's leading mining heritage sites, having been mined for about 400 years from the 16th to the 20th century. It was registered as a World Cultural Heritage site in July 2007 as an "industrial heritage coexisting with the natural environment," without destroying nature and with consideration for the environment. The World Heritage Center serves as a facility to widely inform visitors about the overall picture and characteristics of the Iwami Ginzan site, including its mine shafts, roads, ports, mountain castle ruins, and historical townscapes, as well as its value as a World Heritage site. The wastewater from the toilets at the World Heritage Center is treated with a system called Sofeel and is reused as toilet flushing water in indoor restrooms. It demonstrates high processing capability throughout the year, to the extent that it is indistinguishable from tap water in appearance. Sofeel is also installed in public toilets at the "Iwami Ginzan Park Parking Lot" and "Okubo Mine."

The 21st century is referred to as the "Era of the Environment." The mission of environmental creators is significant, and there are great expectations from various sectors. In particular, creating towns that are kind to both people and the planet is considered an urgent issue in modern times. "Designing while protecting the natural environment is the culture and 'heart' of the town. The landscape and space of the completed facilities represent the beautiful 'form' of the town." With this concept in mind, we pursue what truly comfortable environments are, and steadily realize them based on high levels of safety and security! The Sofir Association, with members nationwide, has the capability to respond with a comprehensive system to the necessary ideas, materials, and technological expertise needed to create such ideal environments.
