Ultimate water-based flexo printing with special ceramic-coated anilox.
Black Pearl Ceramic Coating Anilox
The low ink transfer, which has been a challenge in water-based flexo printing, has been achieved at 95-100%. Moreover, it allows for high-definition printing, savings on ink costs, and prevention of mottling effects.
A special powdered material for which CAE Corporation has obtained exclusive patent rights, enabling automatic processing in sync with ceramic processing. ■ Smooth and high hardness resembling black pearls ■ High-precision cell wall width structure ■ The occurrence rate of fine pores is less than 0.5%. ■ Ink transfer rate improvement (95-100%) allows for over 20% reduction in ink costs. ■ Flexible cell customization ■ Significantly improved cleaning efficiency, allowing for long-term storage of initial anilox specifications ■ Capable of ultra-high dimensional flexographic printing

basic information
Water-based ink, which consists of approximately 50% water, requires careful viscosity management. We have overcome the limitations of the conventional 60° honeycomb structure anilox, which had an ink transfer rate of a maximum of 65% and faced challenges such as slow ink release from the cells during the printing process. The pigment, which makes up 25% of the water-based ink components, is only transferred at 65% = 16.25% with the conventional 60° honeycomb structure anilox. Furthermore, as the printing process progresses, ink accumulates at the bottom of the 60-degree honeycomb cells, and as drying occurs, the transfer rate continues to decrease. This leads to variations in color matching and the occurrence of the "mottle effect" due to differing flow rates. CAE's special ceramic-coated anilox, eCell, releases 95-100% of the ink from the cells due to its elongated structure and shallower cell shape. This allows for the precise transfer of the necessary amount of pigment to the plate or substrate to achieve effective concentration levels, resulting in higher precision outcomes with less quantity compared to the conventional 60-degree honeycomb pattern.
