Hiap Seng provides pipeline maintenance services at Shell's Pulau Bukom oil and petrochemical production facility. The removal of corroded or frozen nuts is a common challenge when performing pipe maintenance. Frequent approaches to removing corroded nuts included chisels and hammers, impact wrenches, or gas torches. However, these methods often resulted in damage to the flange surfaces, bolts, or gaskets, taking 15 to 30 minutes per nut.
