The world's only 100% polyester manufacturing method.

Kuraray Fastening has established a manufacturing method using 100% polyester without a back coating agent and has obtained a patent for it. This has opened up a breakthrough in global standards. This method eliminates the need for polyurethane back coating, which is required for traditional hook-and-loop fasteners, and has successfully reduced CO2 emissions by lowering energy consumption during the process. (A significant amount of energy was required for the heating process to promote the drying and cross-linking reactions of the back coating agent.) Now, all products of "Velcro" are produced using this method. As a result, the hook-and-loop fastener industry has actively pursued efforts to reduce environmental impact, becoming the first to obtain the "EcoLeaf Environmental Label." Furthermore, in 2022, a new recycled type was launched. It uses polyester yarn derived from recycled PET resin made from used plastic bottles as part of the raw materials, and since it is 100% polyester without a back coating, material recycling is possible. The hook-and-loop fastener "Velcro" balances performance and environmental considerations. Kuraray Fastening will continue to advance "more human-friendly and more earth-friendly manufacturing."
