Items with an oxygen index of 26 or higher are treated as non-combustible or flame-retardant.

The "oxygen index" represents the minimum concentration of oxygen in a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen that can sustain the combustion of a material. The determination of non-combustibility and flame retardancy is made according to the oxygen index method specified in JIS K 7201, with materials having an oxygen index of 26 or higher treated as non-combustible or flame-retardant. In such cases, they are not subject to the Fire Service Act (designated combustible materials), so there is no need to notify the local fire department even when storing or handling more than 20m³ (as per the Fire and Disaster Management Agency notification). *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
