<To improve the workplace environment, including the rationalization of operations, review of work styles, and strengthening of disaster response systems> Nagasaki Prefecture extends 213 km east to west and 307 km north to south, with its land area (total area of 4,131.00 km² as of October 1, 2019) being characterized by a scarcity of flat land, featuring mountains and hills throughout. The coastline, formed by numerous peninsulas, capes, bays, and inlets, stretches 4,171 km (as of March 31, 2019), making it the second longest in the country after Hokkaido (and the longest excluding the Northern Territories). Given this geographical situation, the Nagasaki Prefectural Police considered the introduction of a video conferencing system to improve the workplace environment by rationalizing operations through reducing travel time and burden for attending various meetings, reviewing work styles by conducting duties at police stations closer to home instead of distant workplaces, and strengthening the security system during natural disasters such as typhoons.
