The X-shaped scissor structure, in which two members are connected through a central rotating hinge, is a representative expandable structure. This structure has the characteristic of being extendable, allowing it to be folded small when not in use and expanded large when in use. Additionally, by connecting them, it is possible to elongate the structure; however, simple multi-stage configurations can lead to increased weight, resulting in issues such as reduced transport capacity and increased construction costs due to the need for additional reinforcement processing. In this technology, we focus on the upper and lower chord members and diagonal members like in truss structures, constructing panel units of the scissor structure to enhance strength and achieve longer spans, while also improving constructability.
