Contributing to society through impactful design: Introduction to the Connecting Design Research Institute
Kenbunsha solves social issues in information communication with design that conveys meaning.
Recently, a common issue across various industries has been the "difficulty in conveying information." In today's information society, which has been described as such for some time, the world has become very convenient due to ICT technology. We can easily access the information we want anytime and anywhere, and systems have been developed that allow for easy communication even when we are far apart. However, on the other hand, it is also true that the "vast amount of information" and "complex information" have created many "information disadvantaged" individuals who cannot correctly understand or access information. Sometimes, the inability to reach information can even lead to life-threatening situations or economic losses.

basic information
The biggest problem is that we, as providers of information, are not aware of it. As those who play a part in the information industry, we will work on universal communication design, that is, "design that communicates to everyone" and "design that connects with everyone," in order to reduce the number of information disadvantaged individuals and to prevent the elderly from being left behind. We will also engage in awareness-raising activities. The "Connecting Design Research Institute" will serve as a platform to report our daily efforts and research results regarding universal communication design, and we hope to provide insights and hints for solutions to many people facing communication challenges.
