A mass load is applied by a very precisely manufactured piston-cylinder system, allowing for accurate measurement at the measurement point. The piston cylinder is manufactured to standard gravity (9.80665 m/s²), but it can also be adjusted for specific altitudes and is compatible with calibration by UKAS.
