[Case Study] Ball Valve with Scale

Even in processes involving multiple people, work can be carried out without variation! A case study of standardizing intuitive opening and closing tasks.

We would like to introduce a case where a pharmaceutical manufacturer adopted a "ball valve with scale." Before the introduction, each operator opened and closed the valve based on their own judgment, resulting in different opening degrees among operators. To address this, a manual ball valve was introduced to adjust the liquid volume during the granulation process of the drug. A scale plate was added to indicate the opening angle for standardization of operations. After the introduction, it became possible to clearly specify tasks, such as "60 degrees for 10 seconds," leading to standardization of operations and quality improvement.
