basic information
■Customized Transport Systems Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are essential for fully automated production and logistics processes. They must operate in a wide variety of environments, function with precise control, have a very high load capacity depending on the application, and provide reliable long-term operation. For decades, the Wittich family has established a company in the Nuremberg metropolitan area specializing in the construction of custom machinery and mobile platforms. The company has been a part of the Stöber Group since 2018 and is currently operating under the name Stöber WFT GmbH. An ambitious and experienced team of professionals is developing a technologically advanced platform for automated transport based on their unique WFTM.I.T (Mobile Individual Transportation) system. The customer base for these custom-made machines includes renowned industrial companies across Europe, ranging from aircraft manufacturing companies to manufacturers of agricultural machinery, railway vehicles, and compressors. The various types of drive systems in WFTM.I.T can carry loads of up to 500 tons.

■Flexible and Fail-Safe Connection A safe connection for transmitting power to the drive system requires high-performance, vibration-resistant connectors with flexible cables. Stäubli's CombiTac modular connectors not only easily adapt to the specific needs of WFT but also provide exceptional durability and high current capacity thanks to Stäubli's innovative MULTILAM contact technology. To connect multiple drive axles to the control cabinet of the base frame, flexible wiring was necessary to ensure a fail-safe connection while allowing for 360° movement in all directions. During discussions with Stäubli in the project development phase, the complete wiring specifications were fine-tuned, resulting in CombiTac solutions being offered with wire harnesses ranging from approximately 20 inches to about 40 feet in length. This reduces installation time while eliminating potential errors during assembly, ensuring smooth operation in the customer's application without limiting usability. The required cable length may vary for each individual system, and Stäubli adapts flexibly as needed.
