Merck's functional material Durazane includes organic polysilazanes and inorganic polysilazanes that can be used as binders for paints, as well as polymer-modified core-shell structured nano SiO2 particles as additives to improve scratch resistance. ◇◆Features of Durazane 5500◆◇ ■ Additive: Used at low concentrations of 1 to 2.5 w/w % 50% solution of modified SiO2 nanoparticles in butyl acetate ■ Improves the scratch resistance of the coating without compromising reflow operations ■ Compatible with solvent-based two-component polyurethane systems (water-based solvents cannot be used) ■ Mainly used for high-performance clear coats for automotive exteriors and interiors
