The fixed nets used for salmon and trout fishing are installed about 4 to 5 km upstream from the river mouth, extending 1 km in length and 20 to 50 m in width, and these nets are also equipped with zippers. ◆ Key Points for Problem Solving (How Fastening Helped) Traditionally, the ends of fishing nets were all secured with ropes, requiring the ropes to be removed and tied again during the catch, which posed a challenge for efficient harvesting methods.
