"AEROSIL(R)" is an efficient and versatile rheology additive for personal care applications. The effects of this product on rheological properties in personal care applications are well known and utilized for a variety of formulation challenges. When this product is dispersed in an oil matrix, the viscosity significantly increases, and the rheology is greatly affected; the more silica is added to the oil matrix, the greater the impact on the rheology of the formulation. The resulting dispersion exhibits non-Newtonian flow behavior, demonstrating shear-thinning and thixotropic properties.
