During a major earthquake, columns and beams deform into a parallelogram, while the surface materials resist in a rectangular shape, causing a displacement between them, which can bend or break the nails that fix the columns, beams, and surface materials. By inserting our product, which is 1mm thick, into this displaced area, the squishy viscoelastic material converts vibrational energy into thermal energy, reducing the shaking of the house.
