The "NORD-LOCK washer" is a loosening prevention washer that secures bolts using tension rather than friction resistance. This system consists of a pair of washers, one with a cam surface and the other with a radial rib surface. The angle of the cam (α) is designed to be larger than the lead angle of the screw (β), making it difficult to easily overcome the cam.
