A super small current velocity profiler (ADCP) for shallow waters equipped with numerous new features!
We have streamlined the complex mechanisms involved in handling flow velocity sensors and revamped the design and functionality to enable measurements with as few steps as possible. For the first time at Nortek, data quality verification and processing will be performed in the cloud (eliminating the need for dedicated analysis software). Japanese language support is available. [Easy Operation] Automatically sets three water depths and continues measurements while tracking water level changes. Users do not need to specify the measurement depths. [No Cables Required] Non-contact communication (for Eco and disconnection device settings) *Uses the built-in Bluetooth communication function of a smartphone or PC. [No Battery Replacement Needed] Uses a built-in rechargeable battery with non-contact charging. [Simple Setup] Settings can be configured via a web page on the internet or a smartphone app (iPhone and Android compatible apps are available: Nortek Eco; the web page can be accessed via "Related Links"). [Features, etc.] - Low water depth compatibility: Measurements can be taken from 30 cm above the device. - Number of measurement points (water depth, layers): 3 - Equipped with GNSS - Multi-color LED for operation confirmation *Installation is only upward. *Output data will be the horizontal flow velocity (east, west, south, north) at three water depths, but the measurements are three-dimensional flow velocities.

basic information
Eco Main Unit Specifications: - Weight: In air approximately 1 kg, in water 280 g - Diameter: 8.5 cm - Height: 13 cm Components: 1) Ultrasonic flow direction and velocity profiler ADCP: Eco main unit 2) Mechanical timer release device: Eco release 3) Buoy for ADCP 4) Buoy for release device 5) Rope for buoy connection 6) Tripod for seabed installation *Please choose from the buoy (3, 4, 5) or tripod (6) based on your usage (both options are also available). Buoy Type Features: [Easy installation and recovery] Simply attach the weight and drop it into the water from the boat to complete the installation. After the set time on the release device has elapsed, the buoy for the ADCP will float to the surface. The remaining release device and its buoy underwater can then be retrieved back onto the boat to complete the recovery. [Disadvantage] Since the buoy will rise about 1-2 meters from the seabed during installation, the tripod type is effective for capturing flow very close to the seabed. Tripod Type Features: [Can capture flow near the seabed] Due to its low height configuration, it can capture flow close to the seabed. [Disadvantage] Installation work on the seabed is required by divers or similar personnel. For many additional features not introduced here, please refer to the catalog or product page.

Applications/Examples of results
It is suitable for measuring flow direction and velocity in water depths of approximately 30 meters. The handheld main unit and detachable device, along with the compact underwater installation components included as standard, expand the options for measurement locations. It enables measurements in water areas where conventional flow direction and velocity meters were difficult to install. Additionally, it is expected to be used in various locations for simple flow condition surveys and obtaining field data for flow condition simulations. There is no need for advanced dedicated processing software, allowing anyone to immediately graph and verify data online after measurement. Furthermore, it is also possible to automatically generate a report with graphs summarizing the measurement data in Japanese on the web.
Detailed information
-
Configuration diagram of the Eco disconnection device buoy set (when installed underwater). The weights such as ropes and anchors below the disconnection device buoy are not included.
-
Schematic diagram of the measurement location (measurement layer). It automatically follows water level fluctuations such as tides and continuously measures by automatically setting the measurement position.
-
Appearance of the Eco and disconnection device
-
Eco tripod. Please choose this instead of a buoy when measuring the flow velocity close to the bottom of the water.
-
Image of Eco measurement. The upper buoy is equipped with Eco, and the lower buoy is equipped with a separation device (and rope). When the timer-set separation time is reached, the upper buoy is detached from the lower buoy and floats to the surface along with the rope connected to the lower buoy.

Company information
Nortek Japan LLC (Nortek Japan) is the Japanese subsidiary of Nortek AS (headquartered in Oslo, Norway), which manufactures ultrasonic Doppler sensors. We handle the domestic sales of the flow direction and velocity meters, wave meters, and DVL (underwater navigation sensors) produced by the company. Additionally, Nortek Japan offers regular inspections of the products sold (including operational verification work, issuance of inspection reports, and replacement of consumables). Since the work is carried out domestically, we can shorten the return period and reduce overseas transportation costs*. Nortek's products have over 20 years of domestic sales experience and are utilized by environmental survey companies and research institutions both domestically and internationally for research and investigation purposes. Services offered by Nortek Japan LLC: - Product sales - Regular inspections (conducted domestically, including issuance of inspection reports and replacement of consumables) - Sales of various consumable parts, including drive batteries - Various repair services* - Technical support and usage suggestions *For repairs, inspections, and sensor calibration work that require precise inspection equipment, the work will be carried out at the headquarters factory in Norway.
