After a major storm occurred in a vast office park campus of over 810 square kilometers in New Jersey, USA, the 3D measurement company Vannorth Harbor began an investigation and research into the changes in the condition of underground manholes. With over 460 manholes to be surveyed efficiently and at low cost, it became clear that using conventional fixed scanners would be extremely difficult. As a result of various studies, they learned that Dotproduct had already developed the DPI series of handheld scanners, which are optimal for manhole measurement, and decided to adopt them.
