At the National Sanatorium Nagashima Aiseien Rejuvenation Dormitory, gentle measures using water ceramic have been implemented to preserve the weathered appearance of the mortar, which has deteriorated over 87 years, and to resist further weathering in the future. To address blackening caused by biological growth, we avoided strong cleaning that would remove everything and instead aimed to penetrate the mortar with water ceramic to eliminate the organisms internally.
